TRACES | perceptions | reflections

In fall of 2021 I spoke with ten of the artists who were conceptualizing public art projects for the northern section of the Schöneberg area of Berlin. On the surface this area looks gritty but in the fibers of the space exist a rich history of war, punks, migration, of loss, community and resilience.

I set out to experience the space, collecting images inspired by their thoughts and my own curiosity. TRACES | perceptions | reflections interweaves the three components of interview, documentation and interpretation.

The resulting videos are a meditation on perception, on how our urban spaces change over time and how the space itself is altered by the way we use it and the lens with which we view it. The project presents a dialogue across time and space and invites viewers to add their own reflections, memories, and views, thus widening the lens.
