The feature documentary, Beard Club, examines the social politics of facial hair, exploring alternatives to the heteronormative male image.
One woman’s chance encounter with some extreme beard competitors prompts a five-year journey to look into the deeper power dynamics of gender, class, and race linked to facial hair. Visiting twelve cities in six countries, she discovers a diverse set of men and women from different religious, cultural, and social background.
Their stories tell an unexpected tale about the personal and cultural significance of facial hair, and reveals how interconnected we really are.
